The Shroud of Turin bears the blood marks and faint image of a man who had been crucified and scourged. It is consistent with the biblical description of the death of Jesus found in the Gospel of John.

This linen burial cloth, approximately 14 feet by 3 and a half feet, has been the focus of countless studies. Gilbert R. Lavoie, M.D., specialist in Internal Medicine and Occupational Medicine, has researched this subject for over 30 years. His work is detailed in the book, “Unlocking the Secrets of the Shroud”. This book brings to light startling new forensic information that illustrates that the man in the shroud is not lying in burial but is lifted up as if he were suspended in midair.

For the Shroud Project Dr. Lavoie has shared his work with the renowned artist and figurative sculptor, Loura Parks Dobbs.  Their goal is to create a precise larger-than-life bronze sculpture of the lifted man of the shroud.

Follow the progress of Loura Dobbs as she works to finish the sculpture of the lifted man whose hair falls to his shoulders and whose feet do not touch the ground. You can follow her work on this website.
